Foot Health

Functional podiatry is an integrative, evidence‑based approach that blends barefoot science, postural alignment and movement strategies to address the root causes of pain, restore natural foot function, improve balance and stability and build a lasting foundation for lifelong movement.

Dr Emily Splichal's Approach

Modern life has disconnected us from the very foundation of our health — our feet. Years of sedentary routines, cushioned footwear, and disembodied movement have led to chronic pain, emotional dysregulation, and a loss of presence in our own bodies. Through barefoot movement, sensory stimulation, and intentional postural training, my method Grip the Ground restores this connection — helping people reclaim their strength, stability, and energy from the ground up.

Originally trained as a surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Mt. Vernon Hospital, I made a pivotal shift in 2017 — trading in my scalpel for an approach rooted in functional and regenerative medicine. As a leading functional podiatrist, my expertise lives at the intersection of sensory science, neuromuscular activation, and human movement.

But I’m not just a doctor — I walk the walk. As a competitive ballroom dancer, global educator, and former fitness professional, I embody the very principles I teach. Movement isn’t just something I prescribe — it’s how I live. I believe that strong, sensory-rich movement is not only the key to physical health, but also to emotional resilience, vitality, and longevity.

Grip the Ground is more than a method; it’s a mindset — one that returns power, presence, and purpose to the way we move through life. If you’re dealing with chronic pain, fatigue, or instability and are ready to move with strength and intention — I’m here to help you reconnect with your foundation and rise from the ground up.
